Laura B. Foster
Laura Foster is a Partner in the Business Litigation, Insurance & Tort Litigation, and Professional Practices Groups who focuses her practice on strategic claims management and litigation matters. Laura manages and resolves claims for real estate agents, design and other professionals throughout the United States by employing a multi-state knowledge base, evaluating realistic exposure, anticipating issues, identifying practical solutions to eliminate or mitigate risks, and developing legal and fact-based defense strategies for success in alternative dispute resolution forums and at trial.
Laura has experience handling settlement negotiations before private and court-appointed mediators, as well as conducting arbitrations. Should resolution strategies fail, Laura has extensive knowledge in a broad range of civil litigation, including professional liability, real estate, construction, insurance coverage, bad faith, contract, copyright, trademark and employment claims.
Prior to joining the firm, Laura worked as in-house counsel for the largest national residential and commercial real estate brokerage firm and its affiliated entities. In this position, she oversaw all legal matters impacting the companies including litigation and regulatory affairs, dispute resolution, risk reduction, supervising outside counsel and managing litigation costs, corporate-wide legal and governance compliance, commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, leasing, client and vendor contracting, independent contractor relations and professional training. Laura also managed covered general liability and professional errors and omissions claims in coordination with insurance adjusters.
Laura previously worked with Donovan Hatem Attorneys at Burns & Levinson LLP where she represented the program manager and engineering, design and construction program management professionals in all aspects of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority’s Central Artery/Tunnel Project or “Big Dig.” Additionally, Laura represented numerous real estate brokerage firms in professional liability matters.
